Form W-4 Information

The purpose of Form W-4, Employee's Withholding Allowance Certificate, is so that an employer can withhold the correct federal income tax from an employee's pay.

You cannot claim exemption from withholding if:

  • your income exceeds $850 and includes more than $300 of unearned income (for example, interest and dividends) and
  • another person can claim you as a dependent on their tax return.


Filing Deadline

Filing is not required but a copy should be kept by the employer for record keeping.
